Care Instructions

Handwoven fabrics like Fugu and Kente deserve a little extra care to keep their beauty for years to come. Airing out after each wear is highly recommended, but if you must wash, here’s how:

1. Gentle Hand Wash Recommended

  • Use cold or lukewarm water with mild soap or detergent.
  • Soak briefly and gently handwash.
  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.

2. Machine Wash (if needed)

  • Turn the garment inside out.
  • Use a delicate cycle with cold water.
  • Wash separately or with similar colors to avoid bleeding.
  • Place smaller items like scarves and sashes in a mesh laundry bag.

3. Drying

  • Hang to dry in the shade.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods to prevent color fading.

4. Ironing

  • Use a warm iron on the reverse side.
  • For thicker smocks, steam can help relax the fibers.
  • Avoid ironing over embroidery or stitched details directly.

5. Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Fold neatly rather than hanging heavy pieces to prevent stretching.
  • For long-term storage, keep in breathable cotton bags rather than plastic.
