Care Instructions
Handwoven fabrics like Fugu and Kente deserve a little extra care to keep their beauty for years to come. Airing out after each wear is highly recommended, but if you must wash, here’s how:
1. Gentle Hand Wash Recommended
- Use cold or lukewarm water with mild soap or detergent.
- Soak briefly and gently handwash.
- Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
2. Machine Wash (if needed)
- Turn the garment inside out.
- Use a delicate cycle with cold water.
- Wash separately or with similar colors to avoid bleeding.
- Place smaller items like scarves and sashes in a mesh laundry bag.
3. Drying
- Hang to dry in the shade.
- Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods to prevent color fading.
4. Ironing
- Use a warm iron on the reverse side.
- For thicker smocks, steam can help relax the fibers.
- Avoid ironing over embroidery or stitched details directly.
5. Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Fold neatly rather than hanging heavy pieces to prevent stretching.
- For long-term storage, keep in breathable cotton bags rather than plastic.
